Description | A block from where he began his first political campaign, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak returned Sunday to Franklin Avenue with the fanfare of a veteran to say he will run again.
The 2001 event was a smallish affair with a couple of dozen supporters and family members jammed into the aisles of a Phillips Neighborhood drugstore. This time about 100 supporters packed a studio at Franklin Art Works, a gallery that has proven pivotal in the rebuilding of the city's inner core.
"I was born in a great city called Minneapolis, but it's a greater city today," he said, recalling his first campaign kickoff when he expressed fears about a city sliding into mediocrity. "The best is yet to come."
