Description | HASTINGS, Neb. - Republican Gov. Dave Heineman on Monday chose a former Democrat, Hastings Mayor Rick Sheehy, as Nebraska's new lieutenant governor.
"We have similar philosophies, and Rick's outlook is as impressive as his experience," Heineman said. "He has a positive, make-it-happen attitude, and that's the kind of partner I need to move our state forward."
Sheehy, 45, takes over duties Heineman carried out as lieutenant governor until last week, when he became governor after Mike Johanns resigned the post to become U.S. agriculture secretary.
