Description | from the article:
When lawmakers in Pennsylvania passed slots legislation in July, they expected the first slot parlors to open in the second half of this year.
Now the chairman of Pennsylvania's gaming control board, tells WBAL's Robert Lang that won't happen.
...
Decker told WBAL News, "We hope the first slot parlors can open in 2006, but I can't be more specific."
Last fall, the gaming board had to replace its chairman, and there were delays in filling the post.
The panel hasn't even started considering applications for up to 15 slot parlors at race tracks, and resorts.
Decker says a lawsuit by gambling opponents could also hamper efforts to open slot parlors next year. |
