Description | State Sen. Deborah Ortiz, considered the most serious potential challenger to Doris Matsui to replace the late Rep. Robert Matsui, said Friday that she will not run for the open congressional seat.
Ortiz, 47, said it would be too difficult on a personal level to challenge Doris Matsui, the widow of the Democratic congressman who served the Sacramento-based district for 26 years.
"I just looked at this deep inside, and I can't find myself working through the emotions," she said. "I've made a decision that's not an easy one, but it's the right thing to do. I've decided not to go through with this." |
