Description | Doris Matsui, widow of the late Rep. Robert Matsui, officially announced Wednesday she will run to replace him, asking Sacramento voters "to allow me to continue Bob's work through mine."
Matsui, a Democrat, made her formal announcement in front of the Land Park house in which she and her husband lived. More than 150 supporters stood in her front yard, including Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo, Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi, former Sacramento Mayor Anne Rudin and Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena. Matsui also was accompanied by her son Brian, daughter-in-law Amy and granddaughter Anna.
