Description | Now it's time for freshman Sen. Barack Obama to "do something to warrant all this attention.''
That's not me talking about the celebrated Obama, the Illinois state senator shot from obscurity to stardom last year mainly on the strength of a keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention.
That quote is from his wife, Michelle.
Obama (D-Ill.) started his career as a senator Tuesday, the opening day of the 109th Congress, amid as much or more fanfare than greeted the last mega-celebrity elected to the Senate, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), who joined the nation's most exclusive club in 2000.
On Google, enter "Barack Obama'' and "rising star'' and out will pop about 15,500 entries.
