| Description | Citing a desire to spend time with her family, Christie Whitman, sometimes cast as a lone voice on Bush environmental matters, announced Wednesday she will soon step down as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
In a letter posted onto the EPA's Web site, the former New Jersey governor said she had tendered her resignation effective June 27.
