No crime in making campaign donations
House DFL Leader Matt Entenza and his wife, UnitedHealth Group exec Lois Quam, made $600,000 in donations to Democratic causes in the last election cycle. And, as you might expect in this politically charged age, Republicans quickly made hay of the donations, trying to paint them as something shady and scandalous.
The donations were neither. They were legal. They were disclosed, as called for under election law (Entenza even released details of some of the donations earlier than required by law). And the contributions represent something not often seen these days: a politician putting his own money where his mouth is.
