Description | SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Larry Diedrich, a farmer and Republican who lost a bid for the U.S. House in the Nov. 2 election, would make a good addition to President Bush's cabinet as secretary of agriculture, Republican Sen.-elect John Thune said Monday.
Diedrich understands farm policy, the concerns of farmers from the Upper Midwest, and as the former president of the American Soybean Association has a broad understanding of national and international agricultural concerns, said Thune.
"He's someone who's on the right side of the issues," he said.
