DescriptionRAPID CITY - In endorsing Ralph Nader for president on Monday, American Indian leader Russell Means urged South Dakota voters to forget political polls and media predictions about the outcome of the election and vote solely on their principles.

Means said Republican President George W. Bush and Democratic challenger John Kerry are controlled by a web of corporate power and greed that promotes war around the world and is destroying family farms and ranches here at home.

"I do not believe in voting for evil," Means said. "If the American people have principles, then they will vote for a third party."

Means' third-party option is Nader, a 70-year-old consumer advocate and political activist who is on South Dakota's presidential ballot as an independent.
