Description | The Indianapolis area's economic outlook for 2005 is gloomy at best, according to a report issued today.
The annual Economic Forecast for the Indianapolis Area, compiled by the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, predicts "tepid at best" job growth for 2005 coupled with little growth in income.
According to the report, continued recovery of the national economy will improve earnings for local companies and enable scattered job growth. But it cited a hiring freeze at Eli Lilly and Co., the bankruptcy filing of American Trans Air and rising global competition in manufacturing as factors that will cause a drag on the economy.
The incomes of Indianapolis metro area workers will rise at half the level of the country at large, according to the report. |
