Description | "Democrat Tom Sannicandro is charging that a win for his opponent in the race for the Framingham-Ashland House seat will be "very dangerous" for the disabled, an accusation Republican Mary Connaughton said was a desperate attack leading up to the election.
Sannicandro is trying to cobble together $20,000 before voters hit the polls, money he says he needs to win. In an e-mailed fund-raising plea to supporters last week, he tied Connaughton to Gov. Mitt Romney, describing her as "one of the Romney Recruits, who has been extremely well funded by the Republican Party."
The Ashland School Committee chairman goes on to write that a win for Connaughton would be "very dangerous" for those with disabilities because she would back whatever the governor does. Romney, he said in an interview, has targeted funding for the mentally retarded."
