Description | Emanuel Cleaver has a race on his hands.
With just nine days before the election, a new Kansas City Star poll in the 5th Congressional District shows the former two-term Kansas City mayor leading Republican Jeanne Patterson, a political newcomer, 46 percent to 41 percent, with 12 percent undecided.
The results confirm what political insiders of both parties have been saying for days — that the race for the traditionally safe Democratic seat has tightened in the wake of Patterson's unprecedented personal investment of close to $3 million in the campaign. |
