Description | How could someone get elected to office from a district she doesn't live in without anyone catching the mistake? It happened in 2000, when Linda Cates won a race for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Board over incumbent Gary Smith. Her four-year term began in January 2001.
But after Cates filed this month to run for re-election, she found out that her home on Choicecut Court is in the 2nd District, which is northern Vanderburgh County. She has since withdrawn her candidacy. |
