| Description | SC Commissioner of Agriculture Charles Sharpe was arrested Thursday and charged with extortion, money laundering and lying to law enforcement officials in connection with cockfighting.
Republican Gov. Mark Sanford immediately suspended Sharpe and will appoint an interim commissioner soon.
Sharpe (R-Wagener), 65, is a farmer and former State Representative. He was narrowly elected in the closest statewide race in 2002. |
