Description | It is the elephant, the universal symbol of Republicanism, that never forgets. California Democrats, it seems, are perfectly willing to forgive.
It took former Gov. Gray Davis a solid 40 minutes to get inside the door at the California delegation's opening party at the Democratic National Convention on Sunday night, what with the beaming well-wishers and back-slappers descending upon him, seeking his autograph, snapping his photograph and otherwise impeding his forward progress.
"He's just a wonderful man," gushed delegate Sonia Lopes from Los Angeles. "He was a fabulous governor. I'd be happy to volunteer for (another) campaign." |
