Description | "BOSTON (AP) -- The fate of John F. Kerry's seat in the U.S. Senate is generating activity in his home state of Massachusetts, with voters being asked who they would chose to replace him, potential candidates raising money and the state Legislature debating the issue.
A poll Wednesday in the Boston Herald said Gov. Mitt Romney is the best hope for Bay State Republicans to get the Senate seat, should Kerry, a Democrat, win the presidency.
The poll shows Romney in a statistical dead-heat with the only two unofficial candidates for Kerry's seat -- Democratic Reps. Edward J. Markey and Martin T. Meehan."
