| Description | Politics is something new and strange to most businessmen like me.
In business, successful leaders try to communicate openly and as clearly as possible, setting forth objectives and goals so that the team can all understand them and work towards them.
In politics, it seems that the opposite approach is frequently desired. Say one thing, mean something slightly different. One short sound bite is ideal. Don't go into detail because if people understand what you believe, some will, of course, disagree. Say too much and the press may pick out one sentence which implies an idea different from what was intended.
Unfortunately (though some would say fortunately) I've always had a tendency to explain myself in detail so that the listener will understand with more depth. Good idea in business. Bad idea in politics.
Nonetheless, I'd like to try anyway. |
