Description | Twelve men and women are interested in replacing Republican U.S. Senate nominee Jack Ryan, who stepped down amid allegations he once took his wife to sex clubs.
"Some names I know, some names I don't know," state GOP Chairman Judy Baar Topinka said. "We've got the makings of some good candidates in there."
All must now meet with former Illinois Attorney General Tyrone Fahner and former U.S. Attorney J. William Roberts, who are vetting the candidates. Topinka refused to divulge the names of the potential candidates. "If they drop out, I don't want anyone to think there was anything horrible here," Topinka said. |
