DescriptionGasoline prices in Texas are down for the third consecutive week, dropping 3.6 cents a gallon to average just under $1.86 for regular self-serve fuel, according to the weekly survey by AAA Texas.

Corpus Christi prices were lowest, at about $1.77, down nearly 7 cents from a week ago. Dallas was the highest at over $1.88, down 2.5 cents from last week.

"The recent price declines can be attributed to improving inventories of gasoline and lower prices for crude oil," Rose Rougeau, a AAA Texas spokeswoman, said Friday. "However, the current averages remain at very high levels - 45 cents higher than a year ago."
