| Description | There is a clarion call going out within the pro-choice community to protect the abortion language found the DFL state Party Platform. In the latest notice from the DFL Feminist Caucus, the following ALERT! Message was sent:
"The Platform Committee is recommending removal of ?abortion' and significantly changing Choice language from the DFL Platform. WE NEED YOUR HELP to keep abortion rights on the platform!"
It is possible that DFL Pro-life supporters would most likely seek to change language in the following passages of the DFL party platform:
From the "We oppose" provisions of Item 17 within the civil and human rights portion of the DFL Party Platform: "Government interference in all matters related to the control of one's own body, including protection of the rights of women to bear children, practice birth control and obtain safe and legal abortions, and the rights of patients and their families, guardians, and physicians to honor a decision not to extend life by artificial means." |
