Description | WASHINGTON - Rep. Artur Davis, who last year voted against spending an additional $87 billion in Iraq, said Thursday that he will support President Bush's current request for $25 billion.
Davis, a first-term Democrat from Birmingham, said $25 billion is more palatable because it's less and because Congress had been expecting that request.
"The president didn't ask for money for Iraq in his initial budget, so we all knew a supplemental was coming at some point," Davis said. The request also includes military operations in Afghanistan. |
