Description | NASHVILLE - Gov. Phil Bredesen next week will submit to the legislature what he calls the nation's most restrictive driver's license policy.
His proposal, more stringent than a plan offered earlier, would restrict driver's licenses to only United States citizens and lawful permanent residents of the United States.
The proposal was unveiled Friday, one day after officials arrested 25 suspected illegal immigrants believed to be attending a Middle Tennessee driving school solely to get driver's licenses.
