Description | Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman said on Tuesday that he is "inclined" to seek a leadership post as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which recruits GOP Senate candidates and raises tens of millions of dollars to back incumbents and challengers.
Coleman said he is in "somewhat of a unique position" to aid his party in the 2006 election cycle, when a large number of Senate battleground states will be in the northern tier of the country, including in Minnesota, where Democratic Sen. Mark Dayton plans to seek a second term.
