Description | State Sen. Don Cravins, D-Arnaudville, officially kicked off his campaign for Louisiana's 7th District congressional seat Monday with a promise not to duck the tough questions in what was touted to be a 100-car caravan to Lake Charles.
Cravins addressed dozens of supporters from the courthouse steps in Opelousas, telling them he wants to stop illegal aliens from taking their jobs at home and stop government from allowing, or helping, businesses to ship jobs overseas. "You deserve better than what you've gotten in the past, you deserve better representation," Cravins said.
The line of cars, trucks and motor homes that formed up and rolled out of a city park on the south side of town headed to Lake Charles actually numbered about 50, most sporting "Cravins for Congress" window flags.
