DescriptionGov. Bob Riley is not running for a delegate seat to this summer's Republican National Convention, marking the first time in the modern era that a GOP governor in Alabama will not lead his party's convention delegation.

Party officials said U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby of Tuscaloosa, who is seeking re-election to a fourth term this year, is expected to serve as delegation chairman in New York, where Republicans are slated to nominate President Bush for a second term.
