Brian Evans, a Las Vegas entertainer and one of the stars of the television sitcom "Full House," is taking his show on the road -- so he can run for the U.S. Senate in Hawaii. Evans, a Democrat who lives full time in Las Vegas, said he has a condo in Maui and a burning desire to fix problems such as health insurance deficiencies. He said he is in favor of legalizing gay marriage and some amount of marijuana, but that he would especially focus on proposing plans to help more people get health insurance.
He'll be taking on fellow Democrat and seven-term Sen. Daniel Inouye, the third most senior member of the Senate. But the 33-year-old Evans said his inexperience -- and Inouye's experience -- are just the reasons he should run. "I'm not saying that the guy hasn't done amazing things and had an amazing life," Evans said. "But at some point you keep electing somebody because of a whole institution thing."
Evans said he still has a home at Rhodes Ranch in Las Vegas and would continue to perform in Las Vegas should he win a place in the Senate. "I'd still sing through that," he said. "It would be fun. That would be an interesting marquee." |
