Description | The Glencoe Advertiser was first published Nov. 1, 1977 as a weekly advertising tabloid. It was distributed to over 11,000 homes in a 15-mile radius of Glencoe. In December of that year, news was added to the advertising content. The Advertiser continued to be printed in that form until Nov. 26, 1980 when the news was moved into a separate publication to create The McLeod County Chronicle. The company expanded further in June of 82 to create a shopper in the Sibley county area and the Arlington Shopper was first published. The Shopper is currently distributed to 7,000 homes in Sibley, Carver, and McLeod counties.
In 1984, the McLeod County Chronicle was presented with the first of many awards by the Minnesota Newspaper Association. This weekly publication continues to be a strong source of information in the area especially for the GSL school district.
In July of 1987 the company bought The Brownton Bulletin and soon after also acquired The Stewart Tribune. The papers were combined into one paper to create the Bulletin which serves Brownton and Stewart. The Bulletin has evolved into an award winning paper serving the communities and the McLeod West school district. |
