Description | Sens. Clinton and Obama held a debate one week before the critical Pennsylvania primary. The debate was held in the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The debate was moderated by Charlie Gibson of ABC News, assisted by George Stephanopoulos. It was the 25th and final debate in the Democratic presidential primary season of 2008.
The debate focused on side issues and non-issues, rather than issues focusing on how either would be a better President. Questions asked included Obama's relationship with his former pastor, Clinton's gaffe regarding her Bosnia trip, and whether or not either should apologize for statements made by supporters. After an hour of non-issues, the candidates had just 40 minutes to address the major questions facing the United States in 2008.
When Charlie Gibson announced the end of the debate, many people in the crowd jeered the poor quality of the questions. Gibson was taken aback and joked that the crowd had turned on him just as the network cut to a commercial. |
