Description | The Dauphin riding first existed in 1883, although there was no Dauphin riding in the 1886 and 1888 elections. It was re-established in 1892. The riding is located in the Parklands region in southwest Manitoba, which runs west to the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border. It includes all of Dauphin and Roblin as well as Gilbert Plains, Grandview and the Valley River reserve.
The population in 2001 was 19,120. The average family income was $47,112, with an unemployment rate of six per cent. The major industry was agriculture (18%) followed by health and social services (12%). |
