DescriptionThis riding on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River contains the southwest corner of the Island of Montreal. It is hemmed on three sides by water with Lac-St-Louis in the south, Lac des Deux Montagnes in the west and Rivière des Prairies in the north. The rest of the border runs from Rivière des Prairies along Boulevard Jacques Bizard, the border of the former Dollard des Ormeaux and Boulevard des Sources.

Manufacturing is the major employer in this riding, followed by retail trade and wholesale trade. Almost 24 per cent of the population have a university degree, while less than three per cent have less than a Grade 9 education. The average family income is $94,291 and unemployment is 5.3 per cent.

According to the 2001 census, 47 per cent of population have English as their mother tongue, while only 29 per cent list French. The largest ethnic communities are Italian, Chinese and East Indian. The total immigrant population is almost 21 per cent.

In 2004, nine per cent from Pierrefonds-Dollard have been added in the northwest. This riding was established as Lachine riding in 1976 from portions of Lachine–Bord-du-Lac and Vaudreuil ridings. In 1986, it became Lachine–Lac-St-Louis. In the 1996 redistribution, the riding became Lac-St-Louis, combining 65 per cent of Lachine–Lac-St-Louis, 24 per cent of Vaudreuil and nine per cent of Pierrefonds-Dollard.
