Description Arkansas legislators assume office on the second Monday of January following their election.

Legislators are term limited to a cumulative 16 years in both houses. Enacted in 1992, took effect in 2000. Modified in 2014.

AR state senators have a 4-year term length except for immediately after redistricting when all senators are up for re-election.
