This riding was created in 1990. It's in the southeast part of Winnipeg, between the Red River to the west and the Seine River/city limits to the east, and between Novavista/Vista to the north and the city limits to the south. The riding contains large urban and rural areas within the city limits. It encompasses a large portion of St. Vital, with a more rural atmosphere south of the Perimeter Highway.
The population in 2001 was 21,275. The average family income was $78,070, with an unemployment rate of 4.1 per cent. The main industry was health and social services (13.8%) followed by retail (11.9%).
