| Description |
This riding has existed since the 1879 election. It's in southeast Manitoba and stretches from Winnipeg's perimeter to the Ontario border. The Red River forms most of the western boundary. Whiteshell Provincial Park is in the northeast corner. Communities in the riding include Ste. Anne, Ile des Chenes, Lorette, Landmark, and Hadashville.
The population in 2001 was 19,930. The average family income was $59,658, with an unemployment rate of 4.2 per cent. The major industry was manufacturing (12.4%) followed by construction (10.2%).
