Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo

China is a vast country. At 9,596,960 square kilometers, it is slightly smaller in size than the United States. China is located in Eastern Asia, bordering the East China Sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea, and South China Sea, between North Korea and Vietnam. It is comprised of 22 provinces (23 when including Taiwan), 5 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities. It also has special administrative regions in Hong Kong and Macau.

The current Communist government, seated in Beijing, was established on October 1, 1949. It is governed by the National People's Congress which in turn elects the President and Vice President, who serve as Chiefs of State. The President nominates the Premier who is Chief of Government.
