Most of this district runs along the northeastern shore, stretching into St. Peter's Bay. The former ridings of Morell-Fortune Bay and Tracadie-Fort Augustus make up the bulk of Morell-Mermaid.
With St. Peter's Bay in its boundaries, this district counts aquaculture as a major industry, with blueberries making up an increasing amount of the agriculture in the district. In fact, the Wyman's blueberry processing plant is located in Morell (pop.332).
Recent provincial investments include the Links at Crowbush Cove, a top-rated golf course that attracted a five-star resort.
