The City is governed by a non-partisan City Council consisting of a Mayor, Mayor Pro-Tem and five Council members. All Council members represent the entire City, as they are not elected based on a specific district. Elections are held every two years. The Mayor serves two-year terms, and Council members serve staggered four-year terms.
Council appoints the City Manager who carries out the policy decisions of Council through City staff, the City Attorney who gives legal advice to the City and the City Clerk who maintains official records for the City.
The City Council generally holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers in City Hall. Agendas are available on the Friday prior to Council meetings.
