The Northern District of New York encompasses 32 counties in Northern & Central New York,
covering an area of more than 30,000 square miles. It is home to approximately 3.4 million
people. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in this District employs approximately 40 Assistant U.S.
Attorneys and more than 40 support personnel who work in staffed offices in Syracuse, Albany,
and Binghamton.
The Northern District comprises the counties of Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Clinton,
Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson,
Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence,
Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren and Washington.
Court for the Northern District is held in Albany, Auburn, Binghamton, Malone, Syracuse, Utica
and Watertown.
