Description This new constituency comprises the old Edinburgh West seat with the exception of Craigleith (shared with the old Edinburgh Central), and Pilton (shared with the old Edinburgh North and Leith), both of which go to the new Edinburgh North and Leith seat. The constituency also includes Stenhouse, from the old Edinburgh Central seat. This is perhaps the most middle class seat in what is essentially a middle class city. It takes in the western suburbs, including desirable areas such as Corstorphine, the seat of the earls of Roseberry, and the upmarket village of Cramond. It extends down the Firth of Forth to include Queensferry, as well as inland villages such as Kirkliston and Ratho. The constituency has the largest proportion of owner-occupiers in Edinburgh and the third largest in Scotland. Notable landmarks include the southern ends of the Forth road and rail bridges, Edinburgh Airport, Murrayfield National Rugby Stadium, and the South Gyle, and major business and shopping centre. It is also the site of the newly-built world headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland - a vast sprawling village with shopping malls and a sport and leisure complex, as well as offices.
