| Description |
This new constituency comprises the old Dundee East seat - with the exception of two wards within the old Dundee East and another two shared with the old Dundee West which transferred to the new Dundee West. In addition the new Dundee East seat includes six of the 19 wards from the old Angus constituency. The seat is the home of comic book characters Oor Wullie, the Broons, and Dennis the Menace with the printing works of the famous publishers DC Thomson. The publishers and the Michelin tyre factory are the constituency's biggest employers. Developers are now focusing on the City Quay area where land has been reclaimed, and restaurants and retail outlets are being established.
