The County Commission is the legislative body of Dickson County and is made up of twelve Commissioners. Members are elected in the August general elections, coinciding with the election of the state governor, and take office on September 1st.

The county commission meets for a work session the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Issues are brought before the commission for discussion to determine if the matter should be brought to the regular session for a vote.

Regular sessions are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Matters are brought before the commissioners to take action. When meeting dates fall on a holiday, the meeting is usually held on Tuesday the following day.
