Description |
250-seat upper house of the National Assembly of Thailand formerly known as the 220-seat Phruetthasapha (National Legislative Assembly; พฤฒสภา), which was dissolved in 2018 and renamed National Assembly (Wutthisapha;วุฒิสภา). Chamber was re-established again in 2019 with 250 non-elected members appointed by the Royal Thai Military, which included 6 ex-officio members: the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, the Supreme Commander, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force and the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police.
The re-establishment had the effect of restarting the 5-year term for members beginning on May 11, 2019.
