Description Georgia's Start as a State
In April 1776, Georgia's 3rd Provinicial Congress adopted the "Rules and Regulations" [Link]
for the government of Georgia pending advice and direction from the Continental Congress.

These "Rules and Regulations" took effect on May 1, 1776. These served as a framework until
February 1777 when Georgia's 1st State constitution was adopted.

Georgia is the only colony of the original 13 that did not officially declare independence.

Some overlap occurs between the State of Georgia and the Colony of Georgia [Link] after 1776.

In late 1778, the British invaded Georgia, restoring large areas within Georgia to colonial rule,
making this the only colony that was regained by the British once they had been expelled. The
British evacuated on July 11, 1782, thus ending colonial rule in Georgia.

DeKalb officials have been saying for 30 minutes that they will report a big tranche of votes "momentarily".

For real regarding DeKalb. I was hoping to get off the computer 15 minutes ago when they were supposed to be announced.

And boom DeKalb landed. Warnock leads and DDHQ calls it for him...others should be calling it for him soon.

Ossoff trails but NYT needle still has him as 1 pt winner when all votes counted.

BrentinCO: DDHQ calls it for [Warnock]...

Yes - I'm not sure why the networks are not calling Warnock's race.

What happens if a vote is tied 50-50 but the Vice President's not there (i.e. out of the country)? Does the vote fail or is the vote "suspended" until the VP weighs in? Or is there a type of "motion to reconsider"?

For the academic question, I don't know, but it won't happen. The classic rule is not to hold a vote you are not going to win. If Harris' vote is needed, they will make sure to hold the vote when she is available.

It looks like there are about 50,000 uncounted votes throughout Georgia. They come from Atlanta and Savannah, so they will lean towards the Democrats. I really feel that Warnock has won his race and should be projected.

Trump Administration opposition began and ended with Ossoff, but two very different Ossoff campaigns.

These results lend credence to the idea that Trump is still the GOP's biggest asset, rather than a liability. Without him on the ballot, GOP turnout is much less dependable.

Of course, many are blaming his recent behavior with turning off suburbanites in this runoff.

Jason: These results lend credence to the idea that Trump is still the GOP's biggest asset, rather than a liability. Without him on the ballot, GOP turnout is much less dependable.

And yet, one could also argue that he turned off so many voters that Georgia went from reliably red to purple because of his antics over the last 5 years.

There are currently less than 100 people (net) who voted in the Warnock/Loeffler race but not in the Ossoff/Perdue race. I'm surprised the difference isn't greater considering Ossoff & Perdue are less interesting candidates - running as a ticket might have helped pull Ossoff over the finish line.

Wouldn't shock me if they eliminate the runoffs for federal elections (which are unwieldy if they're gonna be done in January) but keep them for state elections.

But the fallout from the GA losses really seems to have waken up some Rs. They weren't gonna go after Trump until they lost the Senate.

I saw that the other day. It only happens when the date in the upper right is set for Jan 4,5,6,7 of this year - the gap between the end of the last term and the beginning of the special election term. Right now I don't know why. I haven't seen this happen before.
