Description |
Years of unrest and armed civil strife since 2013 between Muslim Selaka rebels and Christian militias which resulted in many thousands of deaths have come to a promising standstill when an agreement was struck between the government and 14 armed groups in February 2019.
Under the terms of the agreement, the government, led by the democratically elected Faustin-Archange Touadéra (President since March 30, 2016), would include in a cabinet expanded to 39 members representatives from all 14 rebel groups effective March 22, 2019.
