Description |
In accordant with the traditions of a constitutional monarchy, the Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is appointed by and reports to the Governor-General. This is after a presentation is effected by a majority of elected members of the nation's National Assembly.
The Prime Minister (known as Premier from February 27, 1967 until September 19, 1983, and Chief Minister from January 1, 1960 to February 27, 1967) is head of government and leads a cabinet.
