| Description |
The Frame Lake district includes the trailer courts, apartments and middle-class neighbourhoods of the Forrest Drive area in Yellowknife, as well as the former Con Mine site. J.H. Sissons and William McDonald schools are here, as are the Yellowknife arena and pool.
The district is bounded to the south by Taylor Road and Woolgar Avenue, to the west by Range Lake Road, to the north by 57th and 54th streets, and to the east by city limits. Yellowknife, with a population of 18,700, is the Northwest Territories' capital and by far its largest community. It was founded by miners in the 1930s but has since become the tourism, government and business hub of the territory. In recent years, the economy has boomed due to the opening of the territory's diamond mines.
