| Description |
Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock takes in a large swath of agricultural land near the geographical centre of the province. The riding has largely retained its pre-2004 redistribution shape, save for the addition of a small western section of the old Redwater riding, encompassing the community of Legal. Other communities here include Barrhead, Westlock and Swan Hills.
Farming and related industries are the biggest employers here, followed by retail. The average household income is $52,632, fewer than nine per cent of residents are considered low income, and housing values are the fourth-lowest in Alberta at $99,100. Almost three-quarters of residents were born in Alberta, more than eight per cent are of German origin, and fewer than five per cent are aboriginal. Six per cent are immigrants.
