| Description |
Unlike most other states, New York's highest court is called the "Court of Appeals." The Supreme Court in New York is its trial and intermediate appellate courts.
The seven members of this court are called "judge," serve 14-year terms, and are appointed by the Governor with confirmation by the State Senate (since 1975).
