This central Calgary riding runs between Bow Trail Southwest, 9th Avenue Southwest, Crowchild Trail Southwest and the Bow River in the north, Glenmore Trail and Highway 8 in the south, the CP Rail line in the east and Sarcee Trail Southwest in the west.
The 2001 census counted 117,439 residents. Nearly 21 per cent are immigrants, with a wide range of ethnocultural groups represented.
The service sector is the major employer here. Nearly 24 per cent of residents hold a university degree. Average family income is $85,530 and unemployment is 5.1 per cent.
This riding was created in 2004, bringing together nearly 71,000 residents formerly of Calgary Centre with 38,889 from Calgary West and 7,578 from Calgary Southwest.
