Description |
Located in B.C.'s Central Interior, this riding encompasses Kamloops, the villages of Clinton and Valemont, the District Municipality of One Hundred Mile House, and the Leon Creek No. 2, Kamloops No. 1, Canim Lake No. 1 and Skeetchestn reserves.
The 2001 census counted 111,706 residents, of whom more than 10 per cent are immigrants.
This riding has a range of employers, including the University College of the Cariboo. Unemployment is 11.4 per cent; average family income is $59,050.
Kamloops-Thompson was created in the 2004 redistribution, by adding small populations from Cariboo-Chilcotin and Prince George-Bulkley Valley to the Kamloops riding.
